Constructed Together_

Trans-seasonal 2020

This collection aimed to explore the themes of feminism and the male gaze, using the construction worker as a focal point for discussion. The juxtaposition of functional cargo shorts, known for their practicality, with soft, oversized knits and mesh garments challenges traditional notions of masculinity. To further subvert the utilitarian nature of the cargo shorts, a PVC trench was incorporated, reflecting the 'hard' masculine ego often expressed by tradespeople. However, by making the trench see-through, it exposes and diminishes the armor-like quality typically associated with this image.

The final piece, the Slash jacket, takes a bold step in deconstructing traditional garment design. By placing the 'batting'—the inner, often hidden padding—on the outside, the jacket turns the typical construction process inside out, offering a new perspective on both garment structure and gender expression.
